MBBCS members regularly attend community events to promote awareness of the canal and the role of the society in promoting the prospects and benefits of canal restoration. For much of its length the line of the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal runs parallel to the River Irwell and thus offers the opportunity to create a number of off-road circular walking and cycling routes.
